If you’ve visited our Bowmanville office lately, you may have already seen me at the front desk, so I thought I’d take a moment to properly introduce myself. My name is Sydney, and I’m part of the administrative and team support here at Safe Place. I help out behind the scenes with outreach, day-to-day coordination, and creative projects (including writing blogs like this one!).
I recently graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University with my degree in Psychology, and I’m currently applying to Master’s programs in Counselling Psychology. My goal is to one day become a Registered Psychotherapist, inspired by the amazing clinicians I get to learn from here every week. Being part of this team while working toward that dream has been such a gift.
🎨 A Bit About Me
I love going to the gym and doing strength training (absolutely no cardio though, my asthma said “not happening”). I also love painting when I have downtime or need a mental reset. I mostly paint landscapes or fun cartoon-style pieces. My most recent one was a painting of me and my two best friends as Powerpuff Girls!
📘 My Role at Safe Place
My role at Safe Place is volunteer-based, and it has given me the chance to learn so much while contributing to a practice I believe deeply in. I support Connie and our team through a mix of administrative work, organization, and creative projects that keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
A few of the things I’ve loved working on include:
✨ helping create and update our therapist resource handbook
✨ supporting outreach and referral communication with other clinics
✨ developing client tools, like our Safe Place feedback form
✨ writing many of the blog posts you read on our website
✨ contributing to our Instagram educational content and graphics
📍 Where You’ll Find Me
I’m in the Bowmanville office on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., usually with a warm greeting and my laptop open to about six different tabs (all important, I promise).
I’m so excited to continue growing in this role, supporting our team, and learning from the incredible therapists I get to work with. And if you see me at the front desk, please say hi...and if you've been interested in starting therapy for the New Year or know someone who might benefit from it, please don't hesitate to send your questions to me and I'd be happy to answer them at contactsafeplacetherapy@gmail.com ! 🌾
